Bet you didn’t know you could do it for so cheap, did you?
Well, you can actually do it for free if you’re so inclined, but if you want a little help and an interesting story along the way, $10.08 is all it takes to fetch a copy of my friend Chris Guillebeau’s new book, The Art of Non-Conformity, which officially launches tomorrow.
Yep, somewhere between traveling to every country in the world and helping as many people as possible at his website with the same name, he found time to write a book.
Of course, nothing goes together with a book launch quite like a book giveaway, so I’ve got a free copy to hand out.
If you want it, let me know on Twitter by retweeting this article.
(Just click the retweet button at the bottom of the article.) I’ll pick a winner at random tomorrow morning.
Update: The contest is over and I actually decided to pick 3 winners just because I thought that would be more fun. Thanks to everyone who helped spread the word.
Now, it’s no secret that I’ve been an AONC fanboy for quite some time. Along with people like JD Roth and Pam Slim, Chris has been a tremendous force for good in my own life and has provided a lot of inspiration for my mission here at Advanced Riskology.
Chris gave me an early review copy of his book back in June and I devoured it in about a day. The tag line, “Set your own rules, live the life you want, and change the world,” certainly delivers.
The Art of Non-Conformity is a collection of Chris’ own stories and experiences of volunteering in Africa, starting businesses, going to grad school, and building social movements along with the unique stories of other everyday world changers that he’s met throughout his travels.
As you go through the book, there are some really useful worksheets and tips with practical advice for how to live your own impractical life, which is a nice way to combat “that was nice” syndrome where you read something inspiring and then forget all about it.
I’ve shared my review copy with a few friends and it’s gotten great reviews from them as well, so I know a lot of people will enjoy it.
Quick disclaimer: If you love the ordinary, hate taking risks, and aren’t interested in changing yours and others’ lives, you’ll hate this book. Fair warning.
If that’s you, though, you’ll hate Advanced Riskology too, so don’t let me waste your time!
Still with me? Great.
If you happen to be close by, Chris is also launching his unconventional book tour tomorrow where he’ll be visiting every state in the US and every province in Canada. If you’re in North America, I recommend you catch up with him at one of the 63 cities he’ll be stopping at to meet readers. You won’t regret it.
Happy reading!
P.S. I’m not affiliated with Chris’s book in anyway, I’m just excited to share it with you. Chris has pledged any author royalties he receives from sales to charity:water, so if you buy a copy you’ll be supporting a really great cause.
P.P.S. Happy Labor Day. Don’t play it too safe; do something wild with your time today.

Just finished an early copy too. I wasn’t sure what to expect–whether or not we’d see some of his older content re-contextualized–but I was pleasantly surprised. I’ve already reread a few chapters and my brain can’t stop churning! You thinking about making the World Domination Summit next summer in Portland?
Yeah, Alan. That’s one of the best things about the book is that it isn’t just a rehashing of previous articles like a lot of blogger’s books turn out to be. Chris really put some hard work into this.
And yes, I’ll certainly be at the summit next summer since I’m right here in Portland. Hope to see you there.
Awesome! I’m hoping to make it, but we’ll see. Found your site when Chris mentioned your eBook and have enjoyed reading through it. Keep up the good work over here!
Hosting any blogger friends from the midwest by chance?
Tyler – thanks for this review. I found Chris’ blog about the same time I found yours and have been anticipating his books release. Can’t wait to get my hands on a copy! (I hit retweet already too!!) I’ll be going to the book signing when he comes to Seattle and I’m hoping to make it down to Portland next summer for the Summit too. Would be great to meet you in person then as well.
Sounds great, Annie. Look forward to meeting you.
Sounds very interesting. Thanks for the headsup. I just retweeted your post.
I definitely did the retweet. I am a huge fan of Chris. His words have always inspired me and I am now traveling and writing too.
Very nice review!
That’s great, Steve. I’m checkin’ out your site.
Hey Tyler! Thanks so much for pimping the book — really appreciate your support. See you guys from the road…

It’s the least I can do, Chris. I’m glad to spread the word.
Tyler,
I think what you and Chris are both doing is absolutely remarkable. Thank you for your newsletter and I hope to meet you both someday in the near future.
Good luck to you with all your future endeavors!
Alvin
Glad you enjoy our work, Alvin.
If you’re ever in Portland, let me know and maybe we can meet up.
In fact, I will be in Portland next summer. I will make certain to contact you. If ever you are in the Big Apple, please feel free to contact me.
Such a good book. Worth picking up & passing on
. Well done Chris.
I have a policy about good books, Joel. I never keep them – always pass ‘em on to someone else.
I was lucky enough to get one of the free 99 books CG offered but can’t wait to read the rest – I’ve only finished chapter 1 so far.
